About Heather …
I’m a writer and editor with nearly 20 years of experience in literary editorships at small presses and literary magazines.
My short stories and essays can be found in journals such as Puerto del Sol, Bennington Review, and The Forge Literary Magazine, among others. I’m the author of a short fiction chapbook and a collection of experimental literary theory essays. I’ve also reported on arts and culture and public policy for magazines and news outlets in Chicago, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Yerevan, Armenia.
My education includes an MFA in fiction, an MS in journalism, and a PhD in English literature. In 2024, I earned a Certificate in Copyediting from the University of California San Diego.
I’m currently completing my first novel, which is loosely inspired by Leda and the Swan, and I have a second novel about trees and matriarchs that’s starting to form.
Things I love include deciduous rainforests; coral reefs; wildlife crossings; theater (more spectacle, less kitchen sink); Ethiopian vegetarian platters; dance; Italian cinema; literary fiction; and semi-feral dogs,
Let’s work together.
AI statement: No way. I don’t use AI for writing or editing.
